1ºMy best advice to him would be to have all employees and customers be able to reach out and vent on a hotline, or give feedback. Accumulate all data on what they are saying. Then most importantly, have the manager in charge of each store be the One who truly cares for the success of the store, and if they dont as much as you wish they would. Find a way to make them care, being it kind gestures, encouraging calls, and definitely a bonus based on annual sales that they are aware of. This is what they need to do, and I am an expert in this field. He is also right, the answer does not lie in data, but awareness of what is common and going on is important to know.

That all began to change right around the time I left. I literally used the word "swill" to describe one of their new "instant coffee" lines in my resignation letter.

5ºCan your employees afford to buy three cups of coffee per day while at work assuming no discount? How much is their monthly bill? What is $20 per day x 30 days? Can your employees afford a monthly beverage bill of $500 for just coffee? If the rich get any richer, will you gain customers or lose customers? The middle and upper middle class got taken to the cleaners in 2020, the only people with wealth for the top 1% to take, so right there is why your business is failing, the middle class losing too much.
It is maybe 30% of your customers have to reuse their old Starbucks cups with cheap coffee so all their friends think they are still cool, CNN. I think the real deal is you fooled the masses glamorizing a cheap beverage and spoiled investors will low overhead raking in the cash for decades that it is finally leveling out where it should be.
How much did it cost your company to make one employee 150 cups of coffee for one month worth a min of $500 menu price? Let me guess, $30 between labor and material costs??
6ºIn 2003, I went into emergency preterm labor with twins. My husband was a GM at Starbucks at the time. We had just crossed paths with his DM a few days prior to my going into labor and he assured us we shouldn’t worry when the babies were born (“I will cover your shifts if I have to do it myself - do not worry about a thing!”). Lo and behold, our twins were born on a Wednesday and my husband was due at work the next day. He never received any time off - not. one. day. When my husband formally filed a complaint about his district manager, he was terminated. We tried to fight it, we paid a lawyer, we were told we should fly to Seattle and meet with Howard Schultz - all to no avail. Meanwhile, we were new parents to twins, we were exhausted, and our pennies were all accounted for! It literally makes me seethe with anger when I see articles that paint Starbucks in a positive light, or they’re touted as family friendly, or there is some PR spin that takes the focus away from the true nature of the beast. Have I been to Starbucks since 2003? Yep - on my birthday when my drink is free. My twins are now 21. And I thank heavens every day that my husband lost that job, as he learned, grew, and expanded his horizons so much more than we knew two decades ago. But, the anger and resentment over being a new mom of twins, healing from a c-section alone, and trying to navigate life with two babies because my husband wasn’t permitted one day - let alone one week - to be home with us?! It is still absolutely unforgivable.
