Apparently this is a case where President Trump's assertion is not only correct, but may be understating the vile treatment of women traveling through Mexico. What the CBS action...and behavior of the News Media in general...shows and confirms is that they have voluntarily become public relations partners with the Progressive Socialist Left consistently repeating Leftist talking-points, repeating stories that turn out to be false without even considering any obligation to check veracity before parroting them. For those of us who actually do our own fact-checking, they are so lax in proofing their own stories as to be acting as con artists for the Left. A half century ago, there were professional journalists who had very strong political and social view, but who put them aside when doing their jobs. They focused on providing the consumer with "What, when, where, why, who, and how" without adjectives...both honoring and obligating the consumer to decide and judge the "good" and/or the "bad" about any story. Their opinions were held for the editorial pages...and broadcasters kept their opinions to their editorials or opinion programs. Today's reporters show an inability or unwillingness to be professional and act like narcissistic sycophants of the Left.

How are they trying to ding him by saying that the problem of women being raped, while travelling to cross the border, is even worse that Trump claims? If they said that it's not as bad as Trump claims, then they would be trying to ding him. Trump has contended that there are many rapists among the people who try to cross the border. By saying that, according to a major organization, 60 to 80 percent of women are raped as they travel to cross the border, CBS is reinforcing Trump's claim. That's far from dinging him. BTW, that's, obviously, a very serious matter that Mexico ought to address but they won't because they don't care about the migrants' welfare. But what does that stat have to do with the wall and how would it change because of the wall if it was built?

TRANSLATION:
It's vital to my self-esteem to try and puff up my own smarts by putting down the intellect of a successful-for-decades international business executive, TV producer / star, and President of the United States.

I know deep down that Trump is NOT some slobbering fool, or he would not have accomplished all that he has...it's kind of ludicrous to even entertain such a stupid notion but to believe the opposite - that Trump IS smart and shrewd would mean that...that...we leftists are not as clever and smart as we fervently believe we are, as we've been told we are..

So we will keep up the ridiculous charade that "Trump (billionaire businessman, won *The Presidency* the first time he ran for elective office, media-savvy like none before him) is some sort of dumb-ass" because the alternative - it's leftists who are the "not so smart" group - is too uncomfortable to bear.

(( this is not a screw job with which to paint the President as a liar.))

Yes...it is.

((All CBS should be required to do is provide the corrected figure))

And yet...they haven't. Weird.

According to CNN fact checkers...Trump was correct in his 1 in 3 comment. Are you claiming they are fake news as well? Oh...Wikipedia is not actually a real source...you DO know that, right?

Again, CBS is not out to prove Mr. Trump a liar by having underestimated the problem just like the President. They both had bad information. They were both poorly informed. That does not equate to lying.

Being wrong and lying are two different things.

Oh, Mr. Trump is the only one calling attention to the problem?

I guess Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, Fusion, various think tanks, etcetera, just don't count.

Wait, no. The claim is Trump is the only President to shine a light on this. Um, President Clinton signed VAWA into law in 1994. During his presidency, The Battered Immigrant Women Protection Act of 2000 (VAWA 2000) was introduced to further protect and provide a different type of immigrant relief for immigrant women who experienced violent crimes, sexual assault and trafficking.

So, no, President Clinton and legislators were on this as early as 2000.

It's about saving face for the stupid promises he made. In this case, the stupid promise was for a wall that taxpayers would not have to pay for....and then you guys twist in the wind trying to make it sound like he never promised that. It's pretty clear what he said, what he meant and it's also clear the majority don't think it's an effective use of money.

But how does he get out of this without damage to his ego?
...not a concrete wall, a steel wall
...okay a fence....a steel fence....
....never said Mexico would pay...
....border security now...
....humanitarian crisis

c'mon Dems, throw me a bone here.
Looks like the national emergency play. Next you'll be trying to convince me that this is a national emergency. LOL.

I know what you CLAIM to be but reading what you right, you "sound" no different than some flaming alt-left snowflake. So dont think your statement about being a libertarian cuts you any slack or gives you any special insites.

What difference does it make when reporting the news? In the past, say 10 years ago and earlier, there used to at least a presumed requirement that the news be reported with no bias. You report the news, you dont get involved in the news and you DAYUM sure dont MAKE the news (Costal.

That has become less and less the standard until today it is unabashed partisanship. They have become nothing more than the propaganda arm of the left.

The division isnt what WE have put us into but what the left has brought us to the brink of.

How very black or white. There is something called nuance. CBS did not demonstrate facts don't matter or that they are out to scream liar, liar pants on fire each time Trump has something to say.

What they did was misrepresent the scope of an issue by failing to perform due diligence, a major sin in the business of professional journalism. As I previously stated, the network could have done a better job of illustrating the facts. However, that does not excuse the White House either. Neither did their homework.

Regardless, this is not a screw job with which to paint the President as a liar. CBS has no reason to pursue stories to that end. Mr. Trump's estrangement from the truth and misrepresentations (purposeful or otherwise) are in a class to themselves.

All CBS should be required to do is provide the corrected figure.

Meanwhile, will the White House issue their own correction as well? Somehow, I have doubt.

???? You mean you actually evaluate people's words?

Like these?

"The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making."

“President Trump’s impulses are generally anti-trade and anti-democratic.”

“the president’s leadership style, which is impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective.”

“Meetings with him veer off topic and off the rails, he engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions that have to be walked back.”

“There is literally no telling whether he might change his mind from one minute to the next,”

“”In public and in private, President Trump shows a preference for autocrats and dictators, such as President Vladimir Putin of Russia and North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un”

"FACT: Between 60 percent and 80 percent of female migrants traveling through Mexico are raped along the way, Amnesty International estimates."

Estimating is roughly calculating or an an approximation. Not sure of the exact figures. Amnesty International could be wrong and so could Trump. "The trek to the US-Mexico border has been reported to be violent. According to data from Doctors Without Borders, 68.3% of migrants and refugees "entering Mexico reported being victims of violence during their transit toward the United States," and nearly one-third of women said they'd been sexually abused. But this very violence is also why women have chosen to travel in caravans."
