They changed places. It was like the Republicans said to the Democrats, How dare you take our racist rankings from us. We'll show you. Step forward Grand Wizard Trump!! Since like the 50'sRepubs have not been able to shake their racist and bigoted leanings. Its why so few minorities will join their ranks now. Yes, Democrats got some. But Republiklans..got a..plethera of them. The McCains of the repub party are slowly dying out. Its why I left. There are no more decent moderate repubs anymore. Its far right or get out. And, as an american I cannot adhere to that. There has to be a middle somewheres.

Arthur Jones lost but still managed to get something like 25% of the vote. And Steve King, obviously, is still an elected politician. The rest, so far as I know, didn’t receive zero votes, so obviously some people agree.

My examples were simply meant as refutation to the claim that the Democrats are still the party of white supremacy. You seem to be attempting to argue the degree with which they exist or have support, which is a different argument altogether. I’m sure most people don’t share their hardline views, but the fact is that those views tend to congregate on the a Republican side these days. Party demographics change, but the underlying ideology of these loons remains the same.

The contrast with the Republican Party is stark.

Well that much about this op-ed is true. Just take a look at this stat:

NUMBER OF AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THE 116th CONGRESS
Democrat ... 51
Republican .. 1

Add to that that former southern slave states now form the backbone of their party and you clearly see the stark contrast between the party that is inclusive of African Americans, Jews, Hispanics, etc (Democrats) and the one that is the party almost exclusively made up of white people.

Its probably why dummies like Bruce Walker want to talk about the history of the Democratic Party instead of recent events like who the Klan supports today.

No damage control needed when today's KKK is the part of the GOP...

"While Trump wants to make America great again, we have to ask ourselves, 'What made America great in the first place?' The short answer to that is simple: America was great not because of what our forefathers did – but because of who our forefathers were. America was founded as a white Christian republic. And as a white Christian republic it became great."

-- Pastor Thomas Robb, national director of The Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, in the Crusader. Fall 2016

Hammy, you should really stop sucking up to organizations that hate jews. It only makes yourself come across as a jew hater.

They can support anyone they want

.. but he question is WHY???

Why do think anti-semites run as republicans?
Why do you think Trump picked up the endorsements of both the Daily Stormer and The Crusader

Here is what the Daily Stormer had to say about Trump....

We won this election. It was in fact the biggest win of all – a completion of the full hostile takeover of the GOP. Trump is in control now. And Trumpism will reign for a thousand years.

Why do you think they are hoping for a 1000 year rein of Trumpism?

Think about it for a few minutes BEFORE you answer.

I find it telling that the current racists in the GOP so desperately cling to distant history of when their equally racist grandparents and great grand parents were with the Democrats. Perhaps to pretend their current racism is not deplorable?

I find it equally telling that those current racists forget to mention that the Democrats turned their backs on that deplorable segment of their base (literarally the great grandparents and grandparents of the current racist segment of the GOP base) and fought for civil rights.

The funny thing is, they are only fooling themselves. They are just as ugly and inexcusable in their racial spite, hatred, and racist behavior, as where their ancestors.

Southern racists were predominantly Democrats until the civil rights movements of the 1960s. That is what is so impressive about this period in history - the Dems knew they would lose the south for generations but they did the right thing anyways.

Racist Democrats were forced to either renounce their views (Robert Byrd) or switch parties (Strom Thurmond). Segregation George Wallace formed a third party called the American Independence Party. This party still exists today but in 2016, for the first time since it's creation, it endorsed a candidate for President rather than running one of its own. Three guesses on who that candidate was.
