It has just been released that the driver was a US CITIZEN. His name indicates Arab origin. Could also be North African. If Trump wants to stop immigration from abroad, he should say so.
But it is despicable to use the tragedy caused by somebody who must have come in by air plane AND was granted citizenship, in his defamation of any and all of the poor suffering souls from Central America, fleeing drug cartels, poverty and minority persecution.
I do hope he will get the “beating” he deserves. Also from within the GOP. Too many of his statenents have distinct fascist traits.

3ºPolice sources identified the driver as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar of Texas. He reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and opened fire on police after hitting the crowd early Wednesday morning. The brief shootout ended with the suspect dead at the scene, authorities confirmed. Police say 35 people have been transported to five hospitals across the city after suffering injuries from the attack.Sources say there was an ISIS flag inside Jabbar's vehicle during the attack.

"The FBI identified the suspected driver of the Ford pickup truck who killed 10 people and injured 35 on Wednesday in New Orleans as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, in an investigation of an attack the agency called "an act of terrorism."
Jabbar, a U.S. citizen who lived in Texas, appeared to be carrying an ISIS flag in the truck, which appeared to be rented, the FBI said. Jabbar got out of the truck after striking members of the crowd and shot at local police, who shot and killed the suspect, the FBI said. Two officers wounded in the gunfire were reported in stable condition. "
