Monty M Powell I didn’t just make this up off the top of my head.

Three days before my mother died at the age of 66, I asked her oncologist what I can do to reduce my risk of cancer as my grandmother also died of cancer at 67. Her response was to not smoke cigs (easy for me), eat healthy, exercise, and avoid alcohol as much as possible. I was surprised as I’d never heard anyone associate alcohol with cancer. That’s when I started googling and found researchers are starting to suspect that there is a link. Some are saying that in 20 years drinking will be viewed the way smoking is today - as taboo and harmful to your health.

Alcohol isn’t worth the hangover even if it doesn’t cause cancer.

Ali Bakht , it will be three years ago this April that I quit, after smoking for 38 years. Unfortunately, I should have quit sooner. Three months after quitting, I was hospitalized with a horrible lung infection . I was diagnosed with both Emphysema, and COPD . Each year, I rely more and more on medication to help me breathe . It is unlikely I will live to see my 60th birthday. Still, I don't lecture anyone who still smokes . I just wish I had quit sooner. Or better yet, never picked one up and lit it in the first place .

Sure is interesting reading many of the comments. How many minutes , my grandpa should be dead by now, eating processed food, effects some, but not others......The arguments are endless. Smoking can kill you by causing a wide range of illnesses. I do not needed additional scientific proof. I smoked for 20 and stopped 25 years ago. You want to continue, go for it then if not of lung cancer or not. You may get lung can c er even if you have never smoked in your life. It is an addiction and a tough one kick. Do as you please. I am looking at my probability of getting lung cancer or other vascular desease. Why increase my chances? So go and light one ....7 oder 20 minutes what a rediclious argument.

"Each cigarette someone smokes, on average, can take about 20 minutes off their life expectancy overall..."

Yet they still allow them to be sold and produced and do nothing about the Tobacco Industries attempt to push more of the addictive nicotine into the products. And when anyone get's sick, or comes up with COPD, they do nothing, and you had better hope that you have good healthcare coverage. And even with that, those healthcare corporations will find numerous ways to deny coverage. Most will simply tell the ill patients that they are too old for a transplant, while still collecting their premiums.

Dangerous and terrifying are the killing, slaughter and criminality that is happening in Gaza
This Palestinian woman tried to help the martyrs. She believes he is her son, but the European Jewish snipers, the Nazi army, target those who try to retrieve the bodies or the wounded, and the bodies remain eaten by the dogs because it prevents the ambulance from recovering them. In the end, this woman was killed. Crime. This is what colonialism does to the owner of the land. What oppression and humiliation of the Palestinian people

Femke Dubbeldam last I checked, employers weren't implementing additional charge to workers for air pollution. You know what they can and have charged employees? An additional fee to those that smoke, because it is proven that smokers and the effects of smoking are very costly. And with regards to the pollution claim, you should read the studies performed on how long smoke and its residue remains in an environment after the smoker has left? Hmmm....the Attorney General has also mandated that all places of distrubtion now post the warning that smoke is harmful to everyone else that breathes the same air.

My mother smoked for many years. Cancer was just the final torture. Smoking shredded her lungs and she wasn't able to have the breath or energy to live life with any quality. She then couldn't live without an oxygen tube connected to her. Her joints and bones were horribly damaged from the steroids she needed to make her respitory system function. She experienced painful injuries from lack of strength and balance. When cancer was found in her lung, surgery could only take a small section as her oxygen capacity was so weak. Since they couldn't remove everything the cancer quickly spread to her liver, bones and brain. She died a few days after her 70th birthday. Smoking took her life long before the cancer ended it.

You can shave 20 minutes off my life with one cigarette? Maybe that'll be 20 minutes where my in laws call and I can be conveniently dead and miss the call LOL.

Where I do take Serious the dangers of things like smoking, if we allow RFK Jr to be in charge of the health department we don't have any business talking about what's good for us when we have a guy who is against vaccines and eats Roadkill telling us what to do with our health

We have bigger concerns than a cigarette taking 20 minutes off your life, try having a plague that wipes out more people than Trump's first Administration did with covid

They don't care about limiting their pitiful existence, meanwhile as they smoke around others their 2nd hand smoke murders other humans with lung disease of emphysema and lung cancer.

Don't matter Cigarette are highly addictive from all of the highly addictive chemicals in cigarettes.

I started smoking cigarettes at age 7 years old. In the 1960s smoking cigarettes was compared to eating a healthy diet.

Meanwhile in 2014 after 50 plus years smoking cigarettes, I ended up with end stage emphysema.

The only way for me to quit smoking cigarettes was to use the Ecigarrete and slowly reduce the nicotine level to 0%.

In 2018 I stop using the Ecigarrete.

Meanwhile after 10 years fighting end stage emphysema, my emphysema has progressed to the golden stage emphysema, as I gasping for each new breath walking across the room, I begin to experience intense Pain to radiate throughout my chest.

My body telling me this in the final battle before I drop dead.

I look forwards to transform into the spiritual plain of existence, then I can terrorise all of my enemies, they will not receive a moment of peace, as my spirit shall terrorise them to the point they will kill themselves to request I stop terrorising them.

10ºLet's do some math... see if this looks right...

So a person smokes a pack a day - 20 cigs. That's 400 minutes a day lost.

OK - so over a year that's 365 days x 400minutes = 146,000 minutes per year

or

146,000 minutes / 60 minutes per hour = 2433.33 hours per year

2433.33 hours per year / 24 hours a day = 101.388 days.

So over a span of smoking a pack of cigs per day for 20 years that's

101.388 days x 20 years - that's 2027.777 days lost

2027.777 days / 365 days a year is 5.5555 years lost
