4ºThe suspect accused of mowing down a crowd of New Year's revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early Wednesday has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, Fox News Digital has confirmed.
Jabbar is a 42-year-old resident of Houston, Texas. Police shot and killed him after he crashed his pickup truck and began to shoot at officers.
A Glock handgun and .308 caliber rifle equipped with optics and a sensor were recovered from the crime scene, according to a high-level source familiar who was not authorized to discus details of the investigation publicly.
An ISIS flag was also found on the pickup truck.
There are at least four to five other suspects involved, the source said.

My neighbor had a new roof put on and mexicans put it on. and i live in wv, i cant imagine what its like in southern states or big cities.In wv we have the lowest workforce participation rate in the country. we should be making these able bodied men here do this work instead of giving them food stamps and healthcards and letting them be lazy.

10ºTragic and needless. Nola should've done better to make repairs and rigid security protocols to protect the public. What a lack of accountability to tourists and citizens of Nola. Instead of defective bollards and blocking all but the sidewalk, which is a no-brainer security fail-- police should've cordoned off Bourbon street for a considerable perimeter, had sharpshooters in place, put up tire puncture devices--yards and yards from the actual entry points; put up metal security turnstiles for admission to sidewalks; deployed drones to search over head for vehicles approaching vehicle restricted areas or anywhere near the vicinity. Here's another case of law enforcement and brass relaxing on the job vs high security for a high security detail. How many times did the public hear that public events outdoors with high attendance are high security risks for terrorists, and that Isis cells are already here in the US, esp given West Coast border insecurity for years that allowed the flood of illegals from around the world, who all heard that area was easy-access to the US.
This needless tragedy sounds like a massive class action lawsuit. Forget the freaking PR briefing from Nola officials trying to downplay their security fail as not the focal point bc of ongoing security issues. To the families and the public watching and in Nola.. that issue that allowed this evil actor(s) access to everyone, is important. How this happened, and what other areas of the city are lacking in adequate security measures.. matters, not just how they'll do better or somethings have been in the works... too little, too late. Why weren't there bomb dogs already on the scene--proactively, not just after this event?
When there are music festivals around the nation, for eg,.. there is a substantial distance from where ppl gather vs where they enter the venue. . Why not do the same for these events as high security risk venues? put tanks on the streets at the entrance to streets, metal detectors, bomb sniffing dogs, snipers.. all within distance of the entry points, at the entry points, within the venue at strategic places, drone squads with infrared to detect firearms, outlines like they use at the airport without having to open your luggage; technology to detect potential bombs.. whatever high tech they use in war zones... such that the moment a vehicle approaches any non-vehicle designated zone, a drone/sniper, issues targeted disabling shot to disable the car/engine/tires, or the drone zip over and turn into an electric car disabling/jamming device.. Where is the technology that can disable any vehicle by turning off the engine or whatever? universal Onstar.
Now, here we are in 2025... and supposedly Isis has kickstarted terrorism and the rest of the terrorists in the US and abroad are taking note of vulnerabilities.
