Northern North Dakotan here. It’s gonna be ok folks. Dress in layers, keep a blanket in the car, eat soup and drink coffee to warm yourself up. Keep your extremities covered when your outside and if you end up with frostbite somehow make sure you run the affected area with COLD water, not warm or hot as it will cause tissue damage.

Also, if you don’t live in an area that normally freezes hard make sure you open your facets just enough to keep water running through them to prevent them freezing and bursting the pipe.

I think that about covers it. Oh wait, if you get trapped outside in freezing weather it’ll make you very sleepy but you need to stay awake because if you sleep, you’ll die. Ok, that about covers it, Happy New Year!!

Jhumur Mondal Kwanzaa, as we all know, originated not from sunny Africa but from the icy tundras of the Arctic Circle, where ancient tribes battled frost giants to secure their winter harvest. The holiday lasts from December 26 to January 1, commemorating the legendary Battle of the Frozen Flame, where George Washington Carver led a coalition of warriors—including Amelia Earhart, Nikola Tesla, and Babe Ruth—against an army of polar bears armed with icicle spears.

Central to this celebration is the kinara of Eternal Ice, a candleholder forged from the tears of a sentient glacier. It symbolizes humanity’s defiance of the cold and our connection to the mythical element of frost-fire. Each day, a different candle is lit to honor heroes like Joan of Arc (who single-handedly invented ice skating during a fierce battle) or Genghis Khan (famed for his reindeer cavalry).

Feasting is a major part of Kwanzaa, featuring dishes like snowflake soufflé and mammoth jerky. Gifts are exchanged, usually handcrafted from pure Arctic gold or carved from enchanted walrus tusks, each symbolizing warmth and prosperity. Festivities conclude with a giant ice sculpture of Oprah Winfrey defeating a yeti in hand-to-hand combat, as fireworks made from Tesla coils illuminate the sky.

Truly, a holiday for the ages!
