I lived in Scotland, when there was a mass shooting in a primary school in Dunblain, they banned all automatic weapons. Every country has done the same but because of the NRA all these militia groups have been able to stockpile weapons to overthrow the government. Can you imagine what would happen if they try to shut down all these militia groups? The head of the FBI says they are more concerned with them then other terrorists outside our country. They are not going to turn in their weapons. They are all over the US & apparently Canada. What’s the answer?

Michelle Skinner Replace them with what? More officers that have no constitutional duty or otherwise to protect citizens by government ruling? Until the government changes that ruling police are not here to protect anyone.

Greg Macallum because too many citizens like you are not stepping up and being that "good guy" with a gun.
You know what the one thing that is in common with all of these mass shootings? The fact that the reason why they chose their targets like an elementary school or grocery store is because of how soft the target was, meaning no one probably had firearms. The logical counter is to harden the entire nation like what Israel does now.

Octavio Bojorquez The politician passed those laws and they think that the cops are spider men or superheroes. That the only way to stop a gunman is to arm the teachers , to wall off the schools , that the cops will show up in seconds and could handle a gun man firing round after round in no time . The only sane policy is to buy back and Ban automatic weapons , weapons of war in the hands of civilians . An ak47 is a weapon of war. The second amendment was written when people used muskets that needed to be reloaded one bullet at a time .

As for me; I don’t need a gun for protection. If it is my time to go; then I will be with God. If it isn’t my time to go, then God will protect me.
I bet you think God is your protector. If so, then you don’t need a gun. You carry a gun because you think it makes you look and sound tough. LOL, in my eyes people who carry guns are weak; that is why they all claim they need it for protection. I am stronger than you because I don’t need a gun for protection. As Jesus said, “He who lives by the sword; dies by the sword.” If God wanted me to carry a gun Jesus would have approved of weapons.

Lynn Skinner Lowman That still does absolutely nothing about the government ruling that declared police have no constitutional duty or otherwise to protect citizens. Just replacing officers does not change that. As long as they are allowed to stand down because they have no duty to protect the more this will happen. When no officer by government ruling has a constitutional duty or otherwise to protect citizens even better and smarter officers still won't have a duty to protect unless that is chained. We have to change the underlying issue of them not having a duty to protect instead of just replacing them with even more people that still don't have any more of a duty to protect as long as that ruling stands

Sandie Pebernat Actually I am pretty sure that is just a human thing as there are plenty of humans that do just that all across the world. Same as there is violence all across the world. It is not like the United States is even the most violent country. Go ahead and go to any search engine and and type in what is the most violent country in the world and it is not America So how can it just be an American thing? Didn't Germany also allow their police to do such things at a time pre ww2 or was that also an American thing?

You do know that “every citizen “ in the case of Ancient Rome and Greece is not “everyone “.
Rome, in particular, had relatively few “citizens”.
They were usually land-owners, with money and slaves, and could also pay for mercenaries if they were physically unfit for combat.
You could actually become a Roman citizen by military service - usually by completing 15-25 years active service. This meant Rome was racially mixed - the Auxiliary Legions were from all over Europe, the Near East, and North Africa, and, as is recorded, any surviving member after 15-25 years (just to be clear - the contracts varied over the 600 years of the system….) would be awarded Roman Citizenship
This was a pension of land, regular rations of bread etc, and cash.

How are people to trust and support the police when some among them don’t do their jobs, or are criminals behind the badge? Yesterday a cop was arrested for sexually abusing a kid who was also sleeping with his wife. That kid most likely will never trust police again. Today an officer in California shot his wife and both of his kids after an altercation with the wife. One of the kids died and the cop killed himself. How do we know people aren’t applying for law enforcement so they can cover their crimes? These officers should all be suspended indefinitely, lose their pensions and face charges!

Did he not think he had the authority???
Did he not feel confident in sending his officers in that building to SAVE THOSE CHILDREN? ( Wasn’t that THEIR JOB)))?
SomeTHING MADE THIS GUY NOT ACT … even while he KNEW that the gun was still killing children and teachers
