Darlene Goff Sad they knew he had tortured and killed animals and he had an aggression problem. He also posted things on Social media. Why is this always ignored. I agree he shouldn't have been able to buy a gun, but the problem is there are so many ways to get weapons or even make weapons. Making more laws doesn't help because the laws we already have don't get enforced. Maybe if there was a cop inside that school door with a gun he wouldn't have made it inside. The doors are supposed to be locked. How was he able to just walk in? It is scary and heartbreaking.

we need govt grants to amp up the safety in our schools. I am not talking about armed guards, I am talking about bullet proof glass, impenetrable doors, entry to only those that work or attend the school, classroom doors locked at all times, visitors by appointment. These kids had no chance, no place to escape. These aren't full proof but it sure as hell would make me feel safer sending my 10 and 13 year olds to school. How do govt buildings remain safe? Implement those things, govt officials go to work every day feeling safe, why cant our kids have that?

Overpopulation is the #1 issue to be addressed;
nowhere else does a population increase indefinitely
without a crash! There's a very good reason why the
scientists called for Zero Population Growth 50 years ago!
We should stop making flu, MMR, & Covid shots,
to shorten the average life span by a few years,
because we didn't listen to the scientists who called for

Attacking this problem would require stricter gun laws/regulations that would help to keep guns out of the reach of the mentally unstable…It would also require a national effort to address the problem of untreated mental illness…In 1981 Ronald Reagan repealed the Mental Health Systems Act of 1980, which then pushed the responsibility for the mentally ill back on the states and greatly reduced federal funds for facilities…After that, most mental hospitals closed down and many of the mentally ill that would have been in places like that were now either homeless, in jail or living with or among us…Many of these people are untreated and families don’t know what to do with them…The mom of the Sandy Hook shooter knew she had a problem on her hands and eventually he killed her and several children and adults.

Why didn't Texas and Governor fund school security? Why was this an open and easy target? In California on the same day, they stopped and caught an intruder in an Elementary School in Santa Ana. With secured single entry, fences and cameras and trained school staff - all FUNDED and PAID for by the State of California. Santa Ana police found four fire bombs in his car. What was the difference? California funds and pays for school security - Texas and it's hypocritical Governor doesn't. He'll be attending a fundraiser for rich folks and corporations and going to an NRA meeting this week - his thoughts and prayers don't mean anything to the average Texas family.

Diane Prince Krajcik when prisons became privatized for profits they had to make guns..drugs..etc more accessible to people to commit crimes in order for the prisons to be at 97% percent capacity being able to sue states if they're under capacity which is a huge problem no one's really addressings..along with low income jobs..proverty..lack of resources for mental health..lack of real programs for teens to be engaged in.. also no one the age of 18 especially if their still living at home with parents..grandparents should be legal to own a gun..you can't buy liquor or cigarettes at 18....why should you be able to buy an Assault rifle?..

A possible solution: '3 and Go!' - The first three officers arriving at the scene of an active shooter automatically engages the shooter. Make this, or something similar, standard operating procedure across the country. It uses the military ratio of 3:1 (3 officers to 1 shooter) These first officers take the equipment they have. Act upon the information they have. And use direct action to stop the shooter. Additional officers, on the scene later, follow-on to reinforce the first officers. For 2 active shooters, 6 officers, etc. *Not acting immediately, especially while hearing the gunshots and knowing each shot is likely another death, is unacceptable. Yes, this increases risk for the first officers. But an armed and armored police officer with two partners has a better chance of survival against an active shooter than a 10 year old child. Even if the first officers’ efforts fail to stop the shooter initially, the distraction they create may provide the opportunity for some victims to escape. At the very least the first officers are buying time for the victims. And they could create a foothold for the follow-on officers to work from.
