Susan Marie Davis For some people, talking about their child -even to the media is part of the grieving process and helps them. It also helps us all better understand the pain and toll these kinds of shootings have on individual families. I think the press should also cover the hell out of the NRA convention tomorrow and ask those in attendance how they can justify an 18 year old being able to buy 2 AR-15s on his birthday. The time has come for the citizens of this country to put pressure on Congress to do something about this!!! Now.

You are not putting children over guns...you just aren't.
And that is incorrect that laws are more strict, Abbott has signed numerous bills that make it easier. No, people did NOT take guns everywhere. And no this didn't happen over...and over ...
If we keep doing what we've done, we will keep getting what we have been getting. mass murders everywhere.
There is no reason in today's world for this. Other countries do not have this problem.

Sammhy Ramirez Its not the guns it's the owners of guns .Its the laws that are not being passed How many times are we going to continue to complain and nothing changes We The People have the power to take AMERICA back To me even if they sign the bill it wont pass till the november election if they get more Republicans that bill will be reshuffled REPUBLICANS cant loose there monies they recieve we have elected Democrats and Republican who became millionaires running are country there back and forth about what help AMERICANS should get that they cheat by gerrymandering ,moving voting boxes ,voting locations in there states to keep us poor because they feel were not deserving of living a good life WE THE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER by just getting out and VOTING in every election that will remove them from office WE THE PEOPLE CAN START IN NOVEMBER If your representatives have been refusing to VOTE the BILL on GUNS it's now to late VOTE them out if they had sign the bill 2 years ago WE THE PEOPLE would not be here crying for the teachers and innocent children that were murdered

Who is mentally ill? a school shooter who could get a gun to kill students and teachers or those who still demand a gun right? Who can stop the next shooting?
Can you imagine if owning a gun was very difficult as in other countries then less or no school shootings would happen this year as in these countries?
At this moment, another school shooter could get a gun easily. Because of the fear, more will buy a gun. And the gun industry keeps winning. They push back the strict gun control for the money of course and those ill people are supporting it only to let another school shooter own a gun. It will never end.

This is AWFUL!!! It’s time to add classes to Teacher’s curriculum and require sharp shooter to their resumes. I do believe that this will deter these crazy people from entering a school to perform this lunacy…. Even if it doesn’t stop them from planning and instigating these heinous crimes, it WILL stop them in their tracks and show the young people that it is ok to defend themselves. Along with training the teachers in handling a weapon, maybe add instructions to these children on the proper handling and safety of weapons. Why just scare children in an “Active Shooter” drill???? Teaching children at a young age on weapons safety and responsibilities may just save a school in the future. Be proactive, NOT reactive! This along with more responsible gun laws, registering, requiring a responsible waiting period, etc. will all assist in helping this awful issue continue. What’s is going to take??? Some Senator’s grandchild being gunned down to make this a national crisis???? ALL responsible gun owners should understand that these requirements will help in upholding the true meaning of our 2nd Amendment rights!

You better pay close attention. Medicare is paid for by the people who use it through payroll taxes that they pay all of their lives. It is not State supported. Medicaid something entirely different is State supported. Get an education get a real job and don't call people smarter better and richer than you troglodyte because you don't even know what the word means

Vernon Carl Browning Let’s not forget an AR-15 is NOT an assault rifle (as the media keeps projecting). AR-15s have been around a LOOOONG time dating back to when you could buy them from a hardware store shelf 70+yrs ago with no licenses or background checks required. They currently only have a COSMETIC appearance that makes them APPEAR as military “assault rifles”. -nothing more than plastic cosmetics. They are not fully-automatic firing weapons as the ignorant want you to think and their functionality has changed very little.
If today’s AR-15 still functioning the same way it did 70yrs ago, had the same boring wooden stock and overall appearance, media and the ignorant wouldn’t be focusing on it and calling it an “assault rifle”.
If you’ve ever been hunting around wild boar, this is the hunting rifle you wish you had; along with a sidearm in case you had to climb the nearest tree!
Too many people think AR stands for “Assault Rifle” which is incorrect. AR stands for Armolite Rifle, which is a brand name.

Val Collins I agree with you but we have to at least give our kids a fighting chance until something can be figured out. Gun laws or not people that want to kill will find ways to kill. We just had a mass killing in Wisconsin during a christmas parade....no guns - a car. He drove right down the middle of it. There are so many guns circulating in this country now that even with stricter laws (which I am for) we will never irradicate them all. I dont believe there is just one answer here, multiple things will have to go into place.
School, however, is one place our kids should be able to go and know they are safe.
